Recent graduates from the NKU Masters of English Graduate Program are employed in a variety of interesting fields and many of them are successful published authors!
Andy Bray – is a publications management analyst for Defense Support Services (DS2) at General Electric. He does technical writing/editing and coordinates the development and publication of technical manuals for GE’s aviation customers.
Ryan Clark - is enrolled in the Ed.D in Educational Leadership at the University of Kentucky. Ryan is also a published author, his first book Game of My Life: Kentucky, which covers a century of UK basketball, was released in 2007. His most recent non-fiction book titled “Wrestling Reality: Inside the life and mind of the world’s first gay wrestling superstar” was published by ECW Press (Toronto) in the fall of 2011.
Renea Frey – is enrolled in the PhD program in Rhetoric and Composition at Miami University, Ohio. She is currently engaged in research on 19th century and multimodal composition instruction.
Amy Jones – is Veterans Administration Corporate Writer and Project Coordinator for Sterling Medical Company. She researches federal requests for proposals, creates proposals, and composes compliance deliverables.
Jean Reynolds – is an Editor for F&W Publications. Previously she was Evaluations and Grants Specialist for the Brigton Center, a large social services agency in Northern Kentucky. She also teaches non-credit courses for NKU, as well as professional writing courses at several universities in the area.
Rich Shivener – is Assistant Director of First Year Programs at Northern Kentucky University, where he coordinates special events and has developed programming and guides to fellow NKU Alumnus David Mack’s graphic novel, Kabuki: The Alchemy. He also writes graphic novels (such as this one) and writes for blogs and magazines such as Cincinnati CityBeat, Publishers Weekly, and Writer’s Digest (his most recent article an interview with George R. R. Martin, author of A Game of Thrones (the book upon which the HBO series is based) was published in the November/December issue of Writer’s Digest).
John Silvestro – is enrolled in the PhD program in Rhetoric and Composition at Miami University, Ohio.
Emily Strom – is a writer for People Magazine. Previously she was Social Media Director at Cincinnati Eye Institute and a freelance writer of web content for corporate websites.
Jackie Walker – is Writing Center Coordinator for Miami University, Ohio.
Amber Weiss – is a full-time faculty member with Beckfield College and developed their tutoring program. She has also been published in various literary journals and anthologies.
